8 Top Website Builders to Check Out

Making a living on the internet has never been easier and more convenient. Today, virtually anyone can start a side hustle or an online business no matter your birthplace, education, or experience - there’s no entry barrier.

Options are abundant when it comes to making money online. Here is a list of 22 side hustles you can start to make $1500 a month or more.

Start An Affiliate Website

Affiliate marketing is, to this day, one of the best ways to make money online. This is the business model I chose and this is what I recommend to beginners.

The biggest advantage of it is that as an affiliate marketer, you don’t need to create your own products or services, you can promote other companies' products and services.

You sign up for a brand’s affiliate program, they give you a unique referral link, and if someone makes a purchase through that link, you earn what’s called a commission, which is either a percentage of the sale or a fixed amount.

If you want to start an affiliate marketing site, here’s the step-by-step breakdown.

  1. Pick a niche. Before you start anything, you need to do your due diligence and choose a niche that works for you.
  2. Name your site and get web hosting. First off, you have to come up with a brand name (something short and memorable). Then, if you’re going to use WordPress, which I recommend, you’ll need a web host provider. The most affordable and reliable option is Bluehost.
  3. Install WordPress and design your site. Installing WordPress only takes a single click with most host providers. After WordPress is installed, you’ll need to pick a theme and make your site your own.
  4. Install some plugins. WordPress plugins are extensions that help you expand the functionality of your site. As a starter, you’ll need a webpage builder (ThriveThemes), a solid security plugin (iThemes), an anti-spam plugin (StopSpammers), an SEO plugin (RankMath), an affiliate link management plugin (Thirsty Affiliates).
  5. Sign up for affiliate programs. Find products in your niche and apply for their affiliate programs. Affiliate networks are a great place to find these programs. The best affiliate networks are Impact, Partnerstack, ShareASale, and Clickbank.
  6. Create content. Content will be the cornerstone of your affiliate marketing business - that’s what will drive the traffic. You’ll need 5-10 high-quality blog posts on your site as a start and aim to publish at least 1 new post a week consistently.
  7. Promote your site. Instead of waiting for SEO and organic traffic to kick in, promote your blog on social media platforms to speed up the growth process. Pinterest and Instagram are great places to start. You can also use TikTok if you’re comfortable showing your face. Ad campaigns can work as well, but that requires serious money on your part.

The challenge with affiliate marketing is driving traffic to your links. If your site is new and you don’t have too much of an audience, building your blog up and earning commissions can be pretty tough, but once you get consistent traffic, the money will follow, too.

Copywriting has always been a profitable, high-in-demand profession.

Copywriters who could craft compelling, persuasive sales messages that made people tick and buy the product were valued and well paid.

Today, the situation is no different: if you know how to persuade and sell through the written word, you can take home massive sums of money - yes, even as a freelancer.

Finding opportunities and potential clients is pretty easy, easier than ever before, thanks to the internet.

You can join freelance network sites like Fiverr and Upwork, register to sites like Contena and HireWriters where people looking specifically for professional writers, or you can browse through job sites and send your resume in if you are really dedicated.

As a copywriter, you can get paid three different ways:

  • By project: the client asks you to handle a certain project, you negotiate the details, and they will pay a certain amount of money for that. In this scenario, your work will be revised and you’ll have to make adjustments quite a few times depending on your client’s request.
  • By word: your client tells you how many words should your copy include and you’re going to get paid on a per word basis. For example, if the copy you’re writing is 1000 words long and the client pays $0.25 per word, you’ll take home $250.
  • By the hour: the client gives you an estimation of how many hours will it take to complete the project and they set an hourly price rate. Getting paid by the hour is pretty rare in the copywriting industry, the previous two options tend to be the most common.

Just like with many other online income-earning opportunities, the downside is that over the years the copywriting space has gotten competitive and saturated, which means you’ll really have to stand out.

You can do copywriting work at the comfort of your home, however, I only recommend copywriting if you have solid proofreading, writing, and persuasion skills and you got an extensive portfolio that you can show to potential clients.

Becoming a freelance content writer is a much better option if you’re just starting.

But, if you are certain that copywriting is the path for you, then build up your portfolio before you sign up for projects (work for free at first, if you need to) and try hand-copying famous ads and sales letters to hone your copywriting skills - many A-listers have done that when they were coming up.

Launch A Premium Newsletter

premium newsletter

Starting a paid newsletter, where your subscribers a certain amount each month to read your emails can also make you some money.

Platforms like Substack allow you to start a paid newsletter that’s based on a recurring subscription model. On Substack, creating an account is free, they only charge small fees to maintain their platform.

You can write about pretty much anything you want. The most popular categories are tech, marketing, science, and politics when it comes to premium newsletters.

As an example, if you charge $5 a month for your publication and you have 500 paying subscribers, you’re going to rake in $2500 each month.

Sending out an email every single day isn’t necessary at all, one email per week tends to be industry standard. Even as you grow your audience and get more subscribers, there’s no need to increase the volume of your email - quality over quantity is what’s matters here.

When you launch a premium newsletter, your biggest obstacle is going to be finding subscribers. Launching a free newsletter and getting people to sign up for your list is already difficult. Add the fact people will have to pay for it: even tougher.

I only recommend this side hustle if you already have a large enough social following or an established website. That will make getting subscribers and scaling your newsletter a whole lot easier.

Amazon FBA

amazon fba

AmazonFBA stands for Fulfillment by Amazon and it has gotten a lot of traction in the last few years. The program helps third-party sellers get their products on Amazon by handling the shipping and logistics for them.

BigCommerce says that in 2020, over 50% of the sales made on Amazon came from third-party sellers.

That means more and more businesses are taking advantage of AmazonFBA which works like this.

You, as a seller register for the program, and Amazon will handle the shipping, inventory management, packaging, and even the returns for you.

Of course, AmazonFBA isn’t free, you have to pay fees (which includes customer service and all the shipping) if you want to be a part of it.

This is the AmazonFBA fee structure:

  • Inventory storage fees
  • Long-term storage fees (stored in a fulfillment center for more than a year)
  • Fulfillment fees
  • Unplanned services fees
  • Removal order fees
  • Return processing fee

The program isn’t a recent addition to Amazon’s portfolio, it’s been around for 17 years, and since then, millions of sellers have taken advantage of it. You can take advantage of AmazonFBA, too, and start making money if you have a portfolio of products to sell.

Dropshipping has gotten insanely popular over the last 5-7 years. There are lots of people out there who make 6,7 or 8-figures a year with it.

Dropshipping business owners find cheap products from outside manufacturers and suppliers, and they sell those products in their online stores at a much higher price.

When someone orders a product from the dropshipper's store, the supplier ships the product to the customer. That means you don’t have to worry about order management or inventory.

Platforms Shopify supports dropshipping, so if you want to try this business model, it’s a great place to start.

Print On Demand

mediamodifier JskqEILt ds unsplash scaled

If you are blessed with a creative brain and you’re good at designing things, you can venture into the world of print on demand.

Print-on-demand sites like Teespring, Redbubble, and 6society enable you to create a free online store on their platform and sell customized clothing and accessories.

The logistics, the shipping, and the order management is taken care of by them, you don’t have to stress about that.

Driving traffic and customer to your store, however, is something you have to do yourself, POD sites won’t handle that store.

If you have an established following on social, you already have an edge over your competition. If not, you can either build your profile and promote your products organically or run ad campaigns.

Write eBooks

Believe it or not, eBooks are still prevalent and many creators earn passively from publishing and selling eBooks.

You don’t have to be a trained writer to start - you don’t even have to write fiction. Short, actionable non-fiction guides are just as good - if not even better.

Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing allows you to publish and sell your eBooks on Amazon’s platforms- they take 30% of your revenue, you keep the rest.

If you want to start writing eBooks, you’ll need some writing and proofreading skills, or you can just outsource the work to a freelancer if you have some extra money lying around.

Launch Your Own Podcast

kate oseen XQKUIPjPl s unsplash scaled

If you are good at communication and you have an intriguing topic to talk about, podcasts are the way to go.

You can set it up on platforms like YouTube, Spotify,  Apple Podcasts, or Stitcher.

These platforms are free to use, but you will need some equipment: a high-quality mic, headphones, and a camera if you’re planning to record your episodes.

Most podcasters make money from ads and sponsorships that they mention of their program. That’s show you’ll make money, too when your podcast grows big enough.

Alternatively, you put affiliate links in your descriptions if you host your podcast on YouTube.

Sell Courses

You might have seen people online making a fortune with selling courses.

If you have a skill or something valuable information that you can transfer to others, you can create your online course and watch the money coming in.

You can host and sell your course on a platform like Teachable or Podia. If you’re on WordPress, I recommend ThriveApprentice.

Necessary skills: something you're good at
The time it takes to get started: 1-2 weeks to create the course
How long until you start making $$$: a few weeks

Sell Coaching & Memberships

I talked about selling courses. Now, let’s discuss coaching.

This online money-making method is for people who want to take work with people directly and connect with them on a more personal level.

You can do either one-on-one coaching sessions or group coaching, where to teach a small group of people.

How you set up your pricing is up to you. You either base your coaching on a subscription model, where you charge a recurring fee, or you charge for each individual session.

Necessary skills: something you're good at, communication, marketing
The time it takes to get started: a few days to a week to set up the coaching program

Sell Digital Products

Selling digital products is another effective way to earn income on the web. It works well for people who are a bit camera-shy and don’t want to film an online course or host a coaching session.

There is a wide variety of them that you can sell:

  • Ebooks
  • Guides
  • Templates
  • Printables
  • Planners
  • Fill-in-the-blanks

You can sell your products on platforms like Sendowl and Samcart or you can just install Woocommerce and set up a storefront if you use WordPress.

App & Website Testing

Websites and app testers help companies identify flaws and potential issues in their platforms.

This is another no-skills-required-make-money-online method since all you need is a computer, a webcam, and a microphone if you want to make money this way.

Before you become a tester, though, most testing sites require you to pass a quick entry exam.

The money you’ll get for tests and interviews varies from site to site. TryMyUi pays $10 for 20-minute tests where you have to record yourself and spot issues.

Testbirds gives you 20 euros, on average, for every usability and they accept international applications as well.

UserTesting pays out up to $120 for live, question-based interviews which is pretty solid, compared to other testing platforms.

All of these sites offer weekly payouts via PayPal, which means you don’t have to wait months to get your hard-earned money.

Sell Your Crafts on Etsy

If you have good craftsmanship skills and you like “making things”, selling your work on Etsy is a good option for you.

Etsy is a platform where tens of millions of people are looking for handmade goods, décor, artwork, and vintage items.

Creating a store there is free and super straightforward - it can be done in less than an hour. Etsy doesn’t charge for hosting, it only charges listing fees, which is around $0.20 per listing.

Before you start, expect high competition and a saturated market- there’s are thousands of sellers on Etsy already (if not more).

Become A Virtual Assistant

Every brand, company, or online entrepreneur can use a virtual assistant.

VAs are hired as freelancers or independent contractors and oftentimes, they have more than one client.

As a VA, your responsibility will be to handle:

  • The administrative tasks such as answering the emails, taking care of phone calls
  • Schedules, time management-related tasks
  • Marketing & social media content
  • Invoices, client management
  • Other personal tasks (e.g. booking flights)

By working as a freelance virtual assistant, you can easily hit that $1500/month target and you’ve got multiple clients, you can make upwards of six figures a year.

If you do decide to become a virtual assistant, you always going to have a job. It’s already a very high-demand position and with the growth of the internet and more businesses focusing on their digital presence, that tendency will only continue.

Start A YouTube Channel

With more than 2 billion monthly users, YouTube is still a massive social media platform.

It’s the second biggest search engine (the first one is Google, which owns YouTube) in the world and the best part is, starting a YouTube channel costs nothing - it’s entirely free.

There are a variety of videos that you can make. The most popular ones are:

  • Entertaining content
  • How-tos & value-based content
  • Interviews
  • Reviews
  • Podcast episodes
  • Vlogs
  • YouTube Shorts

As a YouTuber, there are a few different ways you can monetize your channel.

The first is Adsense, which requires 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours. Once you hit that target, you can display ads on your channel.

Second, affiliate links. You can make product reviews and include affiliate links in the description as a way to boost your channel’s revenue.

Third, brand deals and sponsorships. This is when companies reach out to you and ask you to mention their products or services in your videos. The money that pay you varies depending on how popular your channel is, the general rule of thumb is, the more established, the more you’ll make from sponsorships.

The toughest part of the business is attracting eyeballs to your videos and making sure they come back continually. YouTube is a lot more crowded and competitive than it was 10, 5, or even 2 years, but once you crack the code, the money will keep coming in.

If you want to know how to do YouTube without showing your face and creating content, keep scrolling, I have something for you.

Become A Social Media Influencer

In simple terms, a social media influencer is a content creator who has amassed a massive and loyal following on one or multiple social media networks.

Influencers are trendsetters, the content they put out gets high engagement, and they have earned their followers’ trust. The way they make money is by posting sponsored content and endorsing brands.

You can be an influencer on any social platform whether it's Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok.

There are different types of influencers, and the amount of money they make varies based on which category are they in.

The categories:

  • Nano-influencer (1k-10k followers)
  • Micro-influencer (10k-50k followers)
  • Medium-tier influencer (50k-500k followers)
  • Macro-influencer (500k-1m followers)
  • Mega-influencer (1m-5m followers)
  • Celebrity influencers (5m+ followers)

Mega and celebrity influencers rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars for a sponsored post, while nano and micro-influencers make significantly less.

If you are active on social media and you follow big influencers, you see their lavish and glamorous lifestyle. But, behind the curtain, there’s a lot of hard work and dedication that goes into building up a loyal following.

You can definitely make money today as a social media influencer and you don’t need a huge following (there are a ton of influencers who make 6-figures with 5k-15k followers).

One thing to keep in mind though is that there are a lot more people trying to become influencers, which means making it won’t be an easy road.

Online Arbitrage

Online arbitrage is something you can do without any sort of skills or previous experience.

It’s all about registering yourself on freelance sites, placing listings there and when someone hires you, you just simply outsource the work to another freelancer who does projects for low prices.

Here’ an example: you set up a profile on Fiverr. You create a logo design gig and you can charge $50 for that. Someone comes in and asks to create a logo for their company.

Instead of creating the logo yourself, you outsource to another Fiverr freelancer who charges $10 for it. When the logo is done, you send it to the clients and you’ll walk away with $40 profits in your hands (minus the fees).

Online arbitrage is easy to get started with and if you know how to find clients (which is the most difficult part of it), it will be a lucrative income-earning opportunity.

Manage Other People's Social Media

If you’re tech-savvy and you love the world of social media, you can become a social media manager and take other people’s social media accounts for a living.

Being a social media manager isn’t a new thing at all, it’s been around for quite a few years now, and it’s only getting more popular.

Working as a social media manager has some major benefits. You get the be a voice of a brand or a person, there’s very little creative control, and you get paid for posting on platforms you use on a daily basis.

You can work on your own account first and showcase that to potential clients to prove that you’re good for the job. You can start as a freelancer, and as you make more money, you can quit your day job and go full-time.

Thanks to social media schedulers and automation tools, you can automate most of the content creation process, allowing you to manage multiple accounts at the same time.

As a social media manager, you’ll have to constantly advance yourself, stay on the top of the news and needless to say, have a meaningful understanding of the major social media platforms.

It’s a future-proof position as social platforms will only get more popular, but at the same time, working as a social media manager requires some effort and dedication.

YouTube Automation

youtube automation scaled

YouTube automation is something only a few people know about, yet it’s a great way to rake in thousands, and even tens of thousands of dollars a month.

It’s based on delegating and outsourcing.

It works like this: you set up a YouTube channel and you outsource all the content creation, editing, and everything else that’s required to maintain the channel. Then, you wait until your channel(s) get monetized and you collect the ad revenue.

What’s great about YouTube automation is you don’t have to show your face, create the content or work on the channel at all - pretty much everything is handled for you.

The drawback is, to hire editors and content creators, you need to have some money saved up - this isn’t a side hustle you can start for free.

Additionally, you’ll have to wait for Adsense approval, which can take some time. Until your channel is monetized (1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours), you won’t make any money, unless you put affiliate links in the description (which I strongly suggest you do).

I recommend checking out Caleb Boxx first before you start your YouTube automation journey. He’s a successful online entrepreneur who’s made 7 figures with his automated YouTube channels.

He has a lot of videos about the subject and if you want to learn from and work with him directly, you can join his program here.

Necessary skills: none, since everything will be outsourced

Stock Photography

Are you talented at photography? If so, there is a great way for you to turn your passion into a money-making side hustle: stock photography.

The internet is filled with sites where you can upload your work. The most popular ones are Shutterstock, iStock, Adobe Stock, Envato Elements, and Death to Stock.

All of these sites pay stock photographers in the forms of royalties, and your earnings can depend based on what license are your photos purchased under.

Making money as a stock photographer has definitely gotten a lot more difficult over years, but it’s certainly possible, especially if you have a large portfolio and you upload your works regularly.

Blog & Domain Flipping

pexels pixabay 262508 scaled

Blog flipping is a rewarding side hustle that requires almost no skills and experience at all.

In case you’re wondering: yes, blogging is still a thing - trust me, if blogging was dead, I wouldn’t be writing this post in the first place.

There are millions of people who read blog posts regularly and even more people who want already established websites in their portfolio.

The process of blog flipping isn’t that complicated. Here’s how it works step by step.

  1. Go to a marketplace or an auction site that has blogs and websites for sale. I recommend Blogsforsale. co, Chelsea Clarke’s site who’s made 6-figure flipping blogs (more on her later).
  2. Browse through listings and look for websites that are niche-specific and already have some with quality content. You don’t have to look for already monetized sites, you can sell beginner-level sites and make big profits as well.
  3. Choose a website (or websites) and make an offer. Negotiate on the price if you can and wait for the transaction to go through.
  4. Examine the side you bought. Check if you have access to content and everything else that’s part of the offer. Sometimes, the package includes products, social media accounts, and an email list - make sure you have everything.
  5. Flip the blog. Create a seller account on Blogforsale. co, pay the fees, wait for your listing to go live, and watch if you get any offers. When you get an offer, accept it right away if you like it or try to negotiate.
  6. When everything is said and done, transfer all the assets and wait for your money. Once you accepted the offer and the buyer has paid, it’s time for you the transfer everything that was included in the price. After you’re done with that, the money will be on your bank statement in a few days.

Just for the sake of clarity: you don’t have to sell right away. You can sit on the blog for a while to increase its value.

Or, if you purchased a blog that has large amounts of products and/or content, you can turn it into several smaller websites. That will require some extra money on your part, but your profits will be much higher, too.

You can easily make $1500 a month buying and selling blogs and there are plenty of guides and educational material out there.

I mentioned Chelsea Clarke before: she’s the founder of Blogsforsale. co, a marketplace where you can buy and sell blogs, and she runs HerPaperRoute.com, where she talks about how can you make money online.

She’s written a ton of articles about blog flipping and if you want to take it a step further, you can join The Blog Flipping Society, her exclusive community where she goes in-depth in how to make money flipping blogs.

Become A Canva Contributor

convertkit L58uwc d9zY unsplash scaled
The Canva Contributors Program was made for designers, artists, and photographers who want to help expand Canva’s portfolio by uploading their work to the platform.

As a Canva Contributor, you can submit:

  • Graphics
  • Stickers
  • Photos
  • Videos
  • Audio tracks

There are virtually no restrictions to joining the program: anyone over 18 years can be a part of it and it doesn’t cost a single dime to become a Canva Contributors. The licensing is already done for you, so you don’t have to worry about that either.

As for earnings, Canva Contributors get paid in two different ways: royalties and subscription earnings.

You get royalties when a non-Canva subscriber used your asset in their design and paid for the design individually (single content license purchase). The royalty is always 35% of the license purchase.

What’s more interesting is what happens when a Canva Pro or Canva Enterprise user uses your asset in their design. In this scenario, you’ll get paid from Canva’s Royalty Pool, which is basically a portion of Canva’s subscription revenue.

Canva divides the Royalty Pool at the end of each month and pays contributors based on how many times their assets were used. It’s important to note that audio and video footage assets “weigh” 3x more than standard image and graphic assets - in simple terms, you’ll get paid more for submitted videos and soundtracks.

You’ll receive your payments on the 15th of every month via PayPal, Skrill, or Payoneer and when it comes to taxes, unfortunately, that’s something you’ll need to handle yourself.

If you’re a designer, photographer, or soundtrack creator who has talent and a large portfolio, being a Canva Contributor can be a nice way to supplement your income.

You upload your assets, and Canva handles the rest of it. Canva has over 65 million monthly users, so your assets can reach a lot of people.

You don’t have to worry about your content being downloaded either. Canva users can only use your assets in the editor and if they want to export their designs, they will either have to get a Canva subscription or purchase that design individually.

Click here to become a Canva Contributor.

Sidenote: if you want to make even more money by submitting Canva Templates, you can join Canva Creator Program. It works just like the Contributor Program, the only difference is it’s made for templates.
